A RADICAL reworking of the classic nativity story has been staged at Castle Howard.

The stately home provided the backdrop for Livewire Theatre’s Alternativity on Sunday December 21 in aid of charity Ataxia UK.

The audience was invited to sit, stand and follow the interactive promenade performance.

Livewire Theatre is raising money for Ataxia UK, which is working to find a cure for ataxia – the name for a group of rare neurological disorders that affect balance, coordination, and speech – and to provide help and support for people living with the condition in the UK.

Vice chairman of Ataxia, Howard Marshall, from Harrogate, said before the event: “We are delighted that such a prestigious venue will play host to this exciting re-imagining of the traditional nativity and are grateful to Livewire Theatre for their generosity in staging the drama as a fundraiser.

"For the audience to enjoy live, modern theatre in such an interactive way is truly special. We hope to raise awareness for the ataxia condition as well as generating all-important funds.”
