VISITORS to a York social group will help prevent young homelessness in the city today.

The Escape Club is a night out for people who love dancing and having a good time but don't like nightclubs, and will this month help raise money for SASH the young homeless charity in York.

Organiser Pete Kilbane said: "You get none of the baggage that goes with night clubs. It's just dancing, having a laugh, a drink and great night out with friends old and new.

"Many of our clubbers have kids themselves so teaming up with SASH makes perfect sense. And the night's all over by midnight so they can all be home in time for the babysitter, although I suspect one or two go on into town.”

Emma Butler from the charity said “We are really pleased that the Escape Club have decided to donate proceeds from the event to SASH.

"It’s a brilliant way to raise awareness of the work we do in our community, whilst enjoying music and having a boogie. It’s great to have the support of the local community and to be associated with such a successful event."

The Escape Club runs on Saturday between 8pm and midnight at the Crescent Club, behind the Reel Cinema.
