A CHARITY lamb sale helped raise £1,400 for the work of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Members of Helmsley & District Young Farmers’ Club presented the donation when the charity’s regional fundraising manager, Bob Smailes, visited and gave a talk about the air ambulance’s life-saving work across the county.

Bob and Helmsley YFC chairman Ed Bentley thanked the local farmers who donated each of the 18 lambs which were sold in October to raise the funds to support the YAA which operates two helicopters, which cost more than £3.6 million a year.

Helmsley YFC were also joined for the presentation by Yorkshire Federation of Young Farmers’ Club chairwoman Adele Hamer, who congratulated club members on their continued charitable work.
