SHOPPERS are being invited to back the Monks Cross centre’s Christmas Give A Gift Campaign, which supports local children’s charities.

Customers can leave a gift with staff in the information centre, which will be donated to Martin House Hospice, at Boston Spa, and SNAPPY (Special Needs Activity and Play Provision for York).

Martin House is currently caring for 340 youngsters who suffer from terminal illness, and supporting their families, together with another 110 families in bereavement.

John Haigh, from the hospice, said: “Christmas is a time for many of our families to make special memories that will become so important in the years to come.

“Please buy an extra festive gift and donate it to the Monks Cross Give A Gift Appeal.”

Anne Stamp, SNAPPY’s service manager, said: “For some of our children the gift you donate to the Monks Cross Give A Gift Appeal will be their biggest gift from Santa, so please give generously.”

Katherine Sharp, of Monks Cross, said: “We’re hoping for another great year to enable us to donate lots of Christmas presents to the children at Martin House and involved with SNAPPY.”
