A CHARITY has opened it's Christmas shop in York in time for the festive season.

York Against Cancer has been given the use of an empty shop to sell cards and gifts on the run-up to Christmas at 28, Castlegate, and is open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 4pm, it occupies a prominent position next to the Coppergate Centre and is close to the castle car park.

Julie Russell, the general manager of York Against Cancer, said: “We were beginning to think we would not get a shop this year, but then we received a phone call from Barry Crux & Co, local Chartered Accountants and Estate Agents saying they had a property for us to use.

"This was the best news we could have received. We must say a big thank you to Barry and Rosie Crux for helping us out again this year, the money raised from sales will help so many people here in our community.

“I would also like to thank all our volunteers who help run the shop, without them it would not be possible.”

York Against Cancer also have a shop in the main foyer at York Hospital open Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm and the Huntington shop, North Moor Road is open Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm and is also opening Saturdays up until Christmas 10am to 3pm.
