A YORKSHIRE-BASED business has announced it hopes to raise £10,000 for a national cancer charity this year.

Staff at 36 Thomas The Baker stores and the company’s head office in Helmsley will take part in fundraising activities and events in support of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The company hopes to raise enough for the charity to provide 500 hours of free care to people with terminal illnesses in their own homes or in one of its nine hospices.

Siobhan Drane, partnership manager for Marie Curie, said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Thomas the Baker and want to thank all those employees who selected Marie Curie as their charity of choice.”

Chris Chapman, from Thomas the Baker, said: “We’re really excited about the launch of this partnership and it’s fantastic to know that by working with Marie Curie, it will make a huge difference to people living with a terminal illness across Yorkshire.”
