THIS mix of musicians and singers are preparing to thrill the audience during a one-off performance for charity.

The choir is made up of more than 60 professional, student and community performers who will take to the stage at York St John University's Temple Hall on Thursday to raise money for St Nicks charity.

York's centre for nature and green living will benefit from the night, which will treat listeners to an eclectic mix of classical, world and folk music, including cello music by Ginastera.

Other performers include pianist David Hammond, cellist Catherine Strachan, and the soprano duo Incantare, Alexandra Cranfield and Caroline Carfrae. These professional musicians will rub shoulders with members of the choir Communitas and with student musicians from York St John University Big Band and The Bramble Napskins ensembles.

The concert organiser Ivana Jakubkova said: "I must thank York St John University for kindly hosting the concert in their newly refurbished venue. It’s very exciting to have so many musicians coming together for an evening of great music to raise funds for St Nicks."
