A TEACHER is hoping to break into the national spotlight for the second time in three years as he prepares to release his own version of a hit single.
Tadcaster Grammar School's Adam Dawson was catapulted to fame in 2012 when he adpated Psy's Gangman Style and received tens of thousands of hits online.
His latest effort, which sees teachers, pupils, BBC Radio York presenters and Tadcaster Albion FC players perform Happy by Pharrell Williams, is released on November 10 for Children in Need.
Mr Dawson said: "There's every chance that the song could get into the UK music charts, but we need at least 2,000 sales through iTunes or the other digital sites for this to happen.
"I've pre-ordered my copy, but I need your help to put TGS in the national spotlight once again and raise lots of money for BBC Children in Need."
The video stars Pudsey, the charity's mascot, and was filmed in and around the school last month.
"There is the Just Giving page which currently stands at well over £100 pounds in donations alone." added the English teacher.
"If you'd like to contribute more than the 99p the song will cost you then please visit www.justgiving.com/tadhappy/ and donate and read the nice comments people are leaving.
"Plus, spread the word. Share it, tweet it, like it, even, dare I say, talk about it! Word of mouth is an incredibly powerful tool!"
