HOUSE builder David Wilson Homes has pledged to donate money from house sales before Christmas to a York homeless charity.

The developer, which will be raising funds from its properties sold at the Tannery in Strensall and at Woodberry in Market Weighton, will donate £50 from every sale to Arc Light.

Bosses hope the initiative will raise £3,000 for homeless people across Yorkshire.

Clare Reaney, sales manager for David Wilson Homes Yorkshire East, said: "The winter months are particularly difficult for homeless people, so we are keen to rally up as much support as possible.

"The funds we do raise for Arc Light will help us to ensure that those less fortunate than ourselves are also remembered ahead of the Christmas period, which is often a very difficult time for homeless people."

Jeremy Jones, chief executive of Arc Light, said: "As the temperature drops and the focus turns to Christmas, the support required for homeless people within our community heightens.

"All the homeless services in the city are providing extra accommodation and support as part of the city’s Severe Weather protocol, which starts in November. We are very pleased to hear that David Wilson Homes will be supporting us, especially in the run up to Christmas, as well as encouraging others who are able to help where possible."
