A BALL is being held this weekend in memory of Riley Plant, a little boy from York who passed away two years ago after battling cancer.

The Silver Ribbon Ball will be held this Friday at York Racecourse in aid of the Smiley Riley fund - a charity set up in Riley's memory to help with the living and travel costs of families whose children are having chemotherapy.

The charity also makes donations to Martin House Children's Hospice.

The evening - which is sponsored by Say Scaffolding - includes a glass of bubbly on arrival, followed by a three course meal.

There will be a silent charity auction on the evening, hosted by Impulse from Harrogate, as well as the opportunity to win a £10,000 car, a trip to Paris with accommodation and travel, an overnight stay at The Crab & Lobster with breakfast and four county stand race day tickets for four at the May meeting with a meal.

Phil Leverington from BBC Good Food will be the guest speaker for the evening .

The live band is Dirty Little Secrets and there will also be a disco.
