MORE than 250 people have dined in the spectacular surroundings of York Minster’s North Transept – and raised more than £65,000 for the cathedral’s repairs and restoration.
The transept was transformed for the Beef, Beer and Bubbles dinner event, which was organised by the York Minster Fund and attended by the Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu and his wife Margaret.
Guests including Lords Halifax and Crathorne, the Lord Lieutenants of North and West Yorkshire, and also brewers and finance companies, took part in a quiz and bid for exclusive and unusual items in a special auction.
The Dean, the Very Reverend Vivienne Faull, welcomed guests and the proceedings were compered by Charles Dent, chairman of the fund and of regional brewers Timothy Taylor’s.
