A GIRL who was paralysed when she fell from a climbing frame will be guest of honour at a raceday aimed at raising money for spinal research.

Bel Young, 12, from Harrogate, was eight when she slipped from the frame and suffered a spinal cord injury which left her paralysed from the neck down.

A spokeswoman for the charity Spinal Research said she was now a 'remarkable and beautiful' 12-year-old and an inspiration to many.

"Her strength of character and positive attitude to life continues to impress us all," she said.

Bel said: “I do believe I will walk again – a big part of why I think that is because of Spinal Research. When I can walk again I will feel ecstatic and over the moon.”

The charity is organising its 24th annual raceday at Wetherby Racecourse on Wednesday October 15, when will feature an auction and raffle.
