A TEA M from a York business have raised about £1,000 for a local hospice.

More than a dozen members of staff at Bookers Wholesale in Clifton Moor, took part in the ice bucket challenge, along with York City's Josh Carson, to raise money for Martin House Hospice.

Kristan Stenson, area manager, said: "One of our members, Sophie Akhtar, has a seven-year-old daughter named Aamira who has a neurodegenerative brain disorder and uses Martin House.

"There were about 16 of us doing it. It might have been a better idea to have done it in the summer, it was very cold and I couldn't breath at one point. We took a collection between us for the event and it's still coming in at the moment so we're not sure, but it's standing at about £1,000."

The team has also challenged members of another Bookers Wholesale - in Stockton-on-Tees - to take part in the ice bucket challenge, with their funds also going to Martin House.

Kristan said: "It was a good laugh, we all enjoyed it, and it's good to raise money for a good cause."
