A RYEDALE woman has jumped 10,000 feet out of a plane to raise funds for Saint Catherine's Hospice.

Lynda Thompson, who lives in West Knapton, completed the tandem skydive after an initial delay due to poor weather conditions.

"This is something I have always thought about doing but never done as I am not good with heights so would be a real challenge for me, however in a moment of madness I said I would do it and once I committed to it there was no going back," Linda said.

"In the weeks prior to the day I was very nervous and my main worry was that I wouldn't have enough courage to jump out of the plane."

She added: "However, on the day itself the nerves seemed to go and the views going up to 10,000 feet in the plane were amazing. I could see as far as Scarborough Castle and across the Bridlington coastline."

Linda said she had raised £1,000 for Saint Catherine's by completing the jump at Skydive GB, Kirby Grindale, Bridlington.

"I would like to say a huge thank you to my friends, family and customers of Snainton Woodworking Supplies, the family business where I work, for their generous sponsorship and support.

"Thanks also to Louise Gravestock of St Catherine's Hospice for helping me organise this."
