A YORK woman will run a race in New York to raise money for charity.

Julie Mann is raising money for the Stephen Siller Foundation, in memory of a New York firefighter who died during the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, and will take part in a race in the US city later this year while wearing a full-body 'morph suit'.

Julie, 40, wants to take £5,000 with her for the foundation, and is holding a Full Monty night at The Crescent Club on Friday, September 12 to help raise funds.

She said: "I've spoken to the race director and promised him i'm going to raise 5k to take with me in September as a gesture from "old York" to "New York" and I am running the race in a morph suit with all the names and company logo's of everyone who has donated or sponsored me in any way, so they too can run the race with me. I am truly honoured to represent York in this race.

"This second one is our final fundraiser before we leave for the big apple at the end of September. We have topless waiters and dancers as well as a raffle, we held one last month and it went down a storm, to the point all the ladies asked us to do another."

Tickets for the event cost £12 and are available from the club, and Julie is also looking for donations of raffle prizes and local support.
