THE Ainsty pub in York hosted a ‘Le-Grande De-party’ family fun day, which raised more than £1,000 for the York Teaching Hospital Charity.

The event, which coincided with the Tour De France riders racing right past the pub, saw cash raised through a huge tombola, cake stalls, bouncy castle, and children’s talent competition.

Local Beryl Swaffield, who is currently receiving cancer treatment at York Hospital, organised the event and wanted to show her support and say ‘thank you’ for the care she has received.

The funds will be put towards buying more specialist chairs for patients receiving chemotherapy.

The pub will be hosting another event which will help boost Beryl’s fundraising called Ainsty Fest, a family fun day on Saturday, September 13, which will feature music from The Voice contestant Beth McCarthy, a tombola and other entertainment.

If you would like to make a donation towards Beryl’s fundraising, give a raffle or tombola prize or can offer your services on the day, please contact Claire Smith, on 01904 721737.
