A CLASSIC car show – which has raised more than £35,000 for good causes in the past – is now aiming to raise funds for a hospital scanner.

Swainby Classic Car Show is this year celebrating its 10th anniversary.

The popular show has raised tens of thousands for causes in the past and on Sunday, August 24, will be raising funds for an MRI scanner for Northallerton’s Friarage Hospital, as well as Herriot Hospice Homecare.

The appeal has nearly raised its first £1m and is well on its way to reaching the £2million target.

The Swainby Classic Car Show, held five miles from Stokesley on the A172, has grown year-on-year and visitors can see hundreds of classic cars.

Between 300 to 400 are expected from classic Rolls Royce and Bentleys to the more humble Austin 7, as well as classic motorbikes and tractors.

There will also be refreshments, trade stands, and the Gaslight Jazz Trio will be provided music and entertainment.

Geoff Newton, one of the show’s lead organisers, said: “We hope everyone will come along and support our event.

“We are aiming to give classic vehicle owners and members of the public alike an enjoyable day out and help two local good causes at the same time.”
