SHONA Gladwell, manager of the Yorkshire Building Society in Gowthorpe, Selby, will spend four hours in a bath of custard in the branch on August 4, to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Shona said: “As a branch, we wanted to do something imaginative and fun to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care– and what could be better than sitting in a bath full of custard.

“We really hope people come into the branch on Monday to join in the fun and help fill our collection buckets. But we also want people to realise how important their support is to our fundraising and the Hour of Need campaign.”

The fundraising event will run between 10.30am until 2.30pm, with every £20 raised during the campaign funding one hour of care. The Yorkshire Building Society Group has already made a donation of £50,000 which will fund 2,500 hours of Marie Curie nursing care, and hopes to help raise £500,000 by December 2016.
