THE charity Marie Curie is thanking the people of North Yorkshire for supporting its Blooming Great Tea Party campaign this summer.

Over 170 tea parties were held in North and East Yorkshire and the Teesside region to help raise vital funds for the charity.

Marie Curie provides free nursing care to terminally-ill patients in their own homes while also giving their families and loved ones emotional and practical support.

Lizzie Sanders, Community Fundraiser for Marie Curie in North Yorkshire said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who held or attended a Blooming Great Tea Party. We’ve seen such great ideas for tea parties taking place ranging from family garden parties to community street parties all over North Yorkshire. Everyone has had a fantastic time and all the funds raised from popping the kettle on will help Marie Curie Nurses to provide more free care to terminally ill people, and essential support to their families.”
