A cycling enthusiast has set off on the final leg of a fundraising marathon.

Mike Hughes, of Clifton, is cycling from London to Paris in a bid to raise enough money to pay for a Marie Curie cancer nurse.

Mr Hughes, has already taken part in the Marie Curie Power Peloton, riding Stage 1 of the Grand Depart two hours ahead of the Tour de France as part of his challenge, and hopes to raise £25,000.

Mike is being supported in his fundraising by Adele Proctor and Martin Harman, directors of Your Bike Shed in Micklegate, which has already helped to raise £1247 towards his total.

Your Bike Shed is currently hosting an exhibition of cycle-inspired artwork by artist Belinda Noda which will be sold at silent auction on Sunday July 27, with proceeds of going to Marie Curie and Whizzkids.

Bids can be submitted in person at Your Bike Shed or by texting 07535 256004.
