FOUR friends known as the Strenny Golfers have taken part in an epic golf challenge in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
On July 4, Tom James, Steven Arundel, Jonny Brown and Glen Renton, started playing golf before the sun rose, to take part in the Longest Day Golf Challenge. The day saw them tackle four rounds of golf in just one day at York Golf Club in Strensall.
To celebrate completing their challenge they hosted an American Independence Day themed charity night at the club with the help of Lucy Greenbank, Steven's partner, to raise £3,100, well exceeding their £2,500 target.
Sally Millington, fundraising manager for Macmillan, said: “Everyone knows of someone who has been affected by cancer. As more people are being diagnosed with cancer and people are living longer, the demand for our services has never been greater. Every penny raised will help us reach more of the people who need us. We really appreciate all the hard work that is going on behind the scenes.
