YORK vegan restaurant El Piano has raised funds to the tune of £500 as it continues its Community Table fundraising initiative.
To coincide with York Food and Drink Festival, the restaurant, in Grape Lane, has been running a charity dining offer.
In the garden at the back of the restaurant guest and resident chefs are cooking a selection of dishes for the Community Table, which sees diners pay £5 for an hour at the table during which time they can eat as much as they want.
The entire £5 is being given to two cancer charities; York Against Cancer and Mummy's Star.
Running until the end of the month, the Community Table is aiming to raise £1,000 for charity.
The initiative has been support by El Piano staff who have provided free food and labour, as well as York Food and Drink Festival, Simon Baynes fruit and vegetable merchant who has offered free supplies, and Inc-dot printers which printed free flyers.
