PROCEEDS from City of York Council’s Grand Departy will go to charity, the authority has said.

The event takes place at Huntington Stadium on Friday, July 4, and the council announced yesterday, that £1 from the sale of every ticket will go towards a fundraising campaign by Disco Mister.

The band, made up of Huntington School teachers Robin Parmiter and Ian Wilson, will also perform their World Cup single Bring It Home, which made it into the Top 100 on the UK Chart last week, to support The Bobby Moore Fund, Bowel Cancer Research and the Ann Maguire Educational Fund, which was set up in memory of the murdered school teacher from Leeds.

Other acts taking part include Union J, Russell Watson, Rough Copy, Kian Egan of Westlife, York-based singer songwriter Alistair Griffin, Ollie Marland, The Loveable Rogues, Altered Images, Brother Beyond, The Blow Monkeys and The Overtones.

Tickets cost £50 for a family of four, or £20 each, from ticketline.co.uk, experiencetherace.com and from Visit York in Museum Street, York.
