LEADING councillors from Selby and Tadcaster have joined their York counterparts in signing up to take part in a prostate cancer charity run.
Cllr John Cattanach, who only recently became chairman of Selby District Council, will take part in the 5k R U Taking the P? Run on Father's Day, Sunday June 15.
He said he wanted to help as many causes as he could during his year of office. “I also had a stroke last August, so this will be good exercise, although I think I will be walking rather than running. You wouldn’t want the story ‘Chairman has heart attack!”
Also taking part will be vice-chairman Cllr Richard Sweeting, and Mayor of Tadcaster Cllr Steve Cobb and Deputy Mayor Cllr Roderic Parker.
Several councillors on City of York Council have already signed up to take part in the run, which will raise funds for Yorkshire Cancer Research.
