STAFF at a York bank have raised £5,000 for the British Heart Foundation in memory of their colleague who died after a heart attack.
The York office of the Yorkshire Bank joined together with friends to complete the 50 mile Minster Way walk from Beverley Minster to York Minster, in memory of their colleague from Beverley John Spooner who died from a heart attack last year at just 58-years-old.
Duncan Brock, Yorkshire Bank relationship manager said: "We wanted to do something positive in his memory. It's great to know that our efforts will make a difference in helping to fight for every heartbeat."
A team of 16 completed the walk over two days and Sharon Oakley at the British Heart Foundation thanked the walkers for their generous donation from sponsorships.
She said: "We are a national charity that relies on local support and it is always very humbling and means a great deal to us when people raise funds in memory of a loved one."
