THE city’s most prestigious hotel has named the York Teaching Hospital Charity as its chosen charity of the year.

Managers at the five-star Cedar Court Grand announced the decision at a reception in the hotel yesterday.

Maria Florou, Cedar Court manager, said, “We are really excited to be supporting the York Teaching Hospital Charity – the charity does really vital work that benefits all of us living within North Yorkshire.”

The charity is currently running a number of high-profile campaigns including the Star Appeal, which aims to raise £300,000 to refurbish the hospital’s Stroke Rehabilitation Unit.

Hospital chief executive, Patrick Crowley, said: “We believe this is a great partnership of two very important organisations in the area. We are very grateful that the hotel has recognised the significant work of our charity and the benefit it provides to our local communities.

“Seeking relationships in our local communities ensures our charity’s profile remains high and we raise the vital funds we need to continue its work.”
