Colleagues at the York office of insurer NFU Mutual are celebrating the news that they have raised more than £600,000 from their charity partnership with Make-A-Wish Foundation UK.
Make-A-Wish was chosen by staff as the charity partner for NFU Mutual in 2010. The company, which has offices all across the UK, supported the charity for three years until the end of 2012.
The charity grants wishes to children and young people all across the UK who are fighting life-threatening conditions.
Over the three-year partnership colleagues at York made a huge effort to fundraise, whilst at the same time having lots of fun in the office. The money raised came from a whole host of staff fundraising initiatives, including talent shows, quizzes, cakes sales, dress downs, skydives, and, for the numerous sporty types, sponsored treks, runs, and cycles.
To mark this achievement a commemorative plaque will be formally unveiled at their office building, in Clifton Park Avenue, on Tuesday.
Nick Brooks, regional service manager (north-east) at NFU Mutual, said: “Raising this money for Make-A-Wish over the last three years has enabled us to play to our strength of doing something really valuable, but having fun while doing it. We are very proud of this achievement.”
