WORKERS at York’s St Leonard’s Hospice raised their glasses to two teams of charity fundraisers who raised more than £1,200 each last year for the charity.

The teams shared first place in a charity “It’s A Knockout” tournament and were awarded with a tour of York Brewery.

Teams are now gearing up for this year’s tournament on Knavesmire on Sunday, September 1, and can register by phoning Annie on 01904 777777.

The 2012 competition took place at Knavesmire in September, with the two ten-man teams Give Peace A Chance and The Angry Pirates going head to head in a series of messy games. With only £3 between them in their final totals, York Brewery volunteered to welcome both teams as joint winners.

Annie Keogh, corporate fundraiser for St Leonard’s Hospice, was overjoyed at the amount raised.

She said: “We are very grateful to the teams and to York Brewery for so generously providing two prizes instead of one.”
