St Leonard’s Hospice to open furniture store in Selby
6:43am Saturday 15th December 2012 in Fundraising fun
A NEW second hand furniture store is set to open in the centre of Selby next year.
St Leonard’s Hospice will open a second shop in the town, in Ousegate, in February, on the site of Green’s Furniture World.
The charity already has one store in Park Street, which sells clothing, books and toys, but the new venture will focus on donated furniture.
Janet Morley, director of fundraising at St Leonard’s Hospice, said: “We want to say a big thank you to the people of Selby and the surrounding area for supporting our Selby shop since it opened in September 2010. They have been very generous in donating goods for us to sell, and in visiting the shop regularly for bargains.”
The Ousegate store will join the charity’s York furniture shops in Acomb and Heworth, and all proceeds will go towards helping volunteers care for local people and their families, and raising the £3.5 million needed each year to run the hospice, the majority of which comes from fundraising.
