AN Italian artist has turned her talent to helping a charity fundraising appeal.

Guiliana Lazzerini, an artist who lives in York but hails from Tuscany, has created artwork cards for Juliet’s Braveheart Appeal.

The charity was launched last Christmas in honour of Juliet Taylor, five, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2010. After emergency surgery, Juliet soon made a remarkable recovery.

Since the operation, the family has raised thousands of pounds for the appeal, and Juliet and her twin sister, Ella, were crowned joint winners of The Press Community Pride Child of the Year Award last October.

Juliet, Ella and mum Emma met with Giuliana at Blue Tree Gallery in Bootham, where the cards are on sale and an exhibition of paintings and linocuts is scheduled to run until January 5.

All the proceeds from the sale of the cards will go to Juliet’s appeal. The gallery is open from 10am to 5:30pm, Monday to Saturday.
