STAFF and customers at the White Stuff store at the York Designer Outlet have raised more than £900 for the local youth homeless charity SASH.

The charity prevents vulnerable young people in the York area and further afield from becoming homeless by placing them in the homes of volunteers.

The money was raised over six months through a variety of activities including cake and sweet sales, raffles, the sale of window props and White Stuff’s National Wear A Tea Cosy On Your Head Day.

Manager Jo Hopwood said: “The sale of tea cosies was really successful, as were our ‘Ruddy Big Raffle’ tickets that we sold earlier in the year. It’s brilliant to work for a company that allows us to support a charity in this way.”

SASH director Peter Robinson said: “We have to do a lot of fundraising to ensure we can offer our Nighstop service to vulnerable young people in York. It’s wonderful to have the support of local businesses to help us do this as well as raise awareness of our work and the issues around youth homelessness.

“We think this is a tremendous amount for a local store to raise for us and we are very grateful for the efforts Jo and her staff have made on our behalf.”
