TEAMS are needed to take part in a 24-hour football match in York this month for charity.

The five-a-side match will be at Play Football at Roko Gym, Clifton Moor, kicking off at noon on Saturday, November 24, and ending at noon on Sunday, November 25.

Up to 500 rolling substitutes will be used to keep the game moving for the duration, with players asked to remain on the pitch for about 30 minutes at a time.

The match has been organised by Sonia Ridsdel and Hannah Palmer with all money raised for BBC Children In Need.

Sonia said: “We’re not looking to break a record, but if we can start getting enough people interested it’s definitely something we’ll look to do.

“We really want as many people to get involved as possible. We really just want it to be a fun event, so hopefully people will get into the spirit of the event.

“No previous experience is needed, it’s open to all abilities. The only age restriction is there is a minimum age of seven.

“If people already play in a five-a-side league, they can enter as a team, or just enter as a group or friends or work colleagues. We have designated 5pm to 6pm on Saturday for girls who don’t want to play guys, and 9am to 10am on sunday for kids.”

For more details, email york24@hotmail.co.uk or tweet @York24Football. A £10 donation per player, or £5 each for children will be required, and players’ ages and experience should also be submitted in advance to match team abilities.
