THE sale of knitted creations in a York village has raised more than £700 for a major national cancer fundraising campaign.
Ramshambles Wool Shop, in Shambles, joined forces with Cancer Research UK and Channel Four as part of the Stand Up To Cancer campaign. The shop collected knitted creations from people in York and put them up for sale at New Earswick Folk Hall to raise £738. Rachel Speight-McGregor, 42, a fundraiser for Cancer Research UK, said: “We are really pleased. We were hoping for £500 and we were only selling things for £1 or 50p so it went really well. People came in from swimming and because they had seen it in The Press.”
She said they would be planning further events over the next year.
