York shop staff in charity fundraiser

SALES assistants at a fashion store in York are tearing a strip off one of their colleagues for charity.

Staff at Topshop and Topman at Coppergate Shopping Centre are raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust today, by letting beauticians from Fenwick department store wax the chest of University of York student Dave Hall.

Triona Tootle, store manager at Topshop York, has also organised for staff to wear fancy dress during the fundraising day. Staff will also sell their clothes for charity at Rufforth car boot sale on Sunday, November 4.

Dave, 22, said: “My friend had his chest waxed last year during a charity fundraiser and said he’s never known pain like it. The Topshop and Topman team have organised so many sponsors, I know there’s no going back now.”

Neil Setterfield of Fenwick, said: “I’m glad to see Coppergate retailers working together to raise money for such a superb charity.”
