THESE seven students are looking forward to a future at Oxford or Cambridge universities.

York College is the region’s biggest A-level provider, with an A-level pass rate of 99.7 per cent and almost 60 per cent of students achieving high grades in 2017, this year about 1,000 students who study a range of A-level, vocational, access and foundation degree courses have submitted UCAS applications.

This year Oxbridge conditional offers have been awarded to the following students:

Lucas Davison, formerly of Ryedale School, to study PPE at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford;

Sam Holmes, formerly of Garforth Academy, to study Natural Sciences at Selwyn College, Cambridge;

Bethan Law, formerly of Millthorpe School, to study Maths at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge;

Edward Mellor, formerly of Barlby High School, to study history and French at Worcester College, Oxford;

Cat Robinson, formerly of St John Fisher Catholic High School, Harrogate, to study Biochemistry at Wadham College, Oxford;

Hannah Rodger, formerly of Appleby Grammar School, Cumbria, to study English at Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge;

Kate Wareing,formerly of Crawshaw Academy, Pudsey, to study French & German at Queens’ College, Cambridge

Miggy Biller, head of maths and co-ordinator of Oxbridge applications at the college, said: “With a junior university ethos, the college encourages students to apply to the very top universities.

"These students have been given conditional offers to further their studies at the country’s most prestigious universities.

"We wish them every success in their examinations this summer and we will support them, as we do all our students, in the final stages of their studies.”
