THE winners of the 2018 York College hair and beauty contest have been announced.
Cutting edge styles were on display at the competition, held at York Racecourse on Monday.
More than 200 students demonstrated their skills, and were judged by local employers in categories: Evening Style,1920s Hair, Make-up, Blow Dry, Fantasy, Bridal, Level 3 Skills Challenge and Zombie designs.
The winners were: Level 3 Advanced Hair Skills: 1 Josie Carvaglia; 2 Jo Harding; 3 Lisa Eastwood. 1920s – 1940s Hair: 1 Olivia Richardson; 2 Daisy Smith; 3 Isla Myers. Zombie: 1 Tori Drury; 2 Sarah Fletcher; 3 Jodie Brunt. Advanced Make-up Artistry: 1 Georgina Bedford. Ladies Evening Style: 1 Edita Matvleviciene; 2 Samantha Bartley; 3 Ashley Huthart. Team Bridal: 1 Jess Pickering and Millie Dodds; Fantasy: 1. Ava Gillies; 2 Emily Walker; 3 Eleanor Ryder. Make-up: 1 Emily Anderson; 2 Delphia Willgrass; 3 Bethany Simpson. 1st Year Blow Dry: 1 Hannah Metcalf; 2 Hollie White; 3 Ellie Blenkinsopp.
Winning students will compete in a regional heat in Gateshead, and winners from the regional heat will progress onto the national finals in Blackpool in March.
