STAFF from a housebuilding company have headed back into the classroom this month, to help children Stamford Bridge primary school learn about building site safety.

Workers from David Wilson Homes Yorkshire East took to the classroom to teach pupils about the importance of health and safety on construction sites.

Ben Waines is site manager of the company's Saxon Gate development in Stamford Bridge. He led two special presentations for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 pupils at the village's primary school about safety warning signs, building site machinery, protective clothing and more.

Mr Waines said: "It was fantastic to see both groups of children engage in the presentations and they were keen to learn more about how we build our homes. At David Wilson Homes, we are committed to working closely with the local communities that we build in, which is why it’s vital that we inform children on the risks to look out for around construction sites."

Emily Calverley, the deputy head teacher, said it was a great opportunity for the children to learn about an important topic.

"Ben did a brilliant job presenting to the children, making a complex topic easy to understand for all ages, while still getting the message about safety on construction sites across," she added.
