A COUPLE have launched a new recruitment company run by teachers for teachers in York.

Supported Recruitment Ltd recruits teachers for primary schools in the city and the surrounding area and is the brainchild of experienced primary school teacher Richard Robinson, who will run the agency alongside his teacher wife, Gemma. Together, they have more 30 years’ experience in the primary sector.

The couple are passionate about supplying and recruiting teachers who are properly prepared to take on a teaching role and who are fully supported throughout their teaching contract, be it temporary or permanent.

Richard said: “As a leader and a teacher, I have worked with many supply teachers over the years and recognise that it can be a very difficult task to go into a new school and teach effectively, often at short notice.

"Many agencies do a great job finding their teachers work and assigning them to a short-term job; however at Supported, we have a fresh approach. We invest in our teachers, prepare them, coach and mentor them and provide shared resources and tool kits so they can feel confident walking in to a classroom regardless of how long their contract is. Importantly we will also help our teachers to progress in their careers.

"We’re really excited about launching the company and have already had several enquiries from schools interested in our services and teachers who like our approach to recruitment.

"We want to deliver a service where everyone feels fully supported and able to succeed.”

Richard has 15 years experience at Key Stage 2 and has worked as assistant head at Robert Wilkinson Primary Academy and Deputy Head at Haxby Road Primary Academy. He is a Specialist Leader in Education (SLE) with a particular focus on literacy and he has worked as a mentor and coach with teachers and leaders across Yorkshire and Humberside.

Gemma has 18 years experience working at a number of nurseries and schools and has a particular interest in Early Years.
