A GIANT sleepover in a school hall raised £780 for a children's cancer charity.
More than 40 Year 5 pupils did small jobs at home in exchange for money to help fund their place at "The Hempland Hotel".
Each child then paid between £15 and £20 to enjoy a night at Hempland Primary School in Heworth, when they played outdoor games into the evening, enjoyed a light pizza supper and settled down in their sleeping bags for a film before falling asleep.
They were joined by class teachers Gareth Dyer, Jo Kemp, teaching assistants Helen Andrews and Alison Bell and Hempland head teacher Stuart Outram, with many declaring it a highlight of the whole year.
