ANOTHER city primary school is exploring becoming an academy.

Should school governors at Lakeside School at Clifton Moor decide to convert, it will join Ebor Academy Trust, the primary focussed multi-academy trust currently comprising seven schools across York, Selby, East Yorkshire and the coast.

A consultation period has started, with meetings organised for parents, carers and the community to find out more.

Mikhaila Stanley, the school’s chairman of governors, said: “We want to ensure that Lakeside can continue to provide excellent teaching, create more opportunities for its children and their teachers for years to come whilst retaining its community, open door ethos keeping every child at the heart of what we do.

“The Governing Body believe that becoming an academy and joining with Ebor will allow us to do just that.

“But we still want to talk to our community and hear people’s views, while the decision is still being considered.”
