TALENTED music students from York College stepped back in time to re-create the music of the 1960s, 70s, 80s and 90s in a performance called Decades.
First year music students playing in bands, the students mastered hits from Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Sex Pistols, Fleetwood Mac, The Jackson 5, Blondie, Bowie, Nirvana, Oasis, recreating popular soundtracks from the different eras.
Beat It by Michael Jackson, Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust and Paint it Black by the Rolling Stones are firm favourites amongst the students.
Vocalist Adele Rolf, formerly of Huntington School in York, said: “It was a challenge to perform the songs and to do them justice. In performance situations like this everything we learn on the course is useful.” Tutor Rachel Davies said: “It was an enjoyable learning experience for them all.”
