THEY'VE painted, spent hours colouring in and played every childhood game you could think of, but now it's time to put down the crayons and get ready for school.

These youngsters are now preparing for life in primary education after a send off to remember from the nursery where most have been since they were six months old.

Jo Lowther, deputy manager at Askham Bar Day Nursery, where 14 children have "graduated", said: "They have grown up here and a lot of them have been here since they were babies, and all the staff know them really well.

"They have come on a long way and we can celebrate what they have done."

The children and staff celebrated with a party where they received prizes and were all given a poem and a photograph to act as a keepsake for when they are older.
