BOOTHAM Junior School in York has begun a major building development with plans to open new classrooms, more music facilities and expanded IT teaching space.

Head teacher Helen Todd said, “This is a really exciting time for the school and everyone here - children and staff are looking forward to the opening of these new facilities in the autumn.”

Meanwhile, the children are getting involved in designing possible classroom layouts and colour schemes. Year 6 teacher Katy Cave said: “We’ve been using this as an opportunity for some project work and the children are enjoying the chance to use their creative talents. Now the building work is under way, it all seems much more real!”
