STUDENTS from a York sixth form have raised more than £200 in an effort to draw attention to the prevalence of mental health problems.

Students at Huntington School Sixth Form held an “It’s Ok To Be Blue” day alongside York Mind, which involved students dressing up in clothes with a blue theme.

Ashton Bauer, an organiser of the event, said: “The aim was to raise awareness of mental health, and to try to stamp out some of the stigma surrounding the topic.”

Holly Pollard, the community fundraiser for York Mind, gave a short presentation in which she explained how the money will be used to help the one in four people who suffer from mental ill health, and their friends and families.
