A CARE home is aiming to spread some festive cheer by offering a free Christmas dinner to residents.

The Hall, in Thornton-le-Dale, is inviting those over 65 who live in the village to enjoy a home-cooked lunch next month.

Chris Mitchell, from the home, said this was the fourth year they had welcomed residents from the village for a Christmas lunch.

“Each year we serve approximately 150 meals, not only is the meal free so are drinks,” he said. “The only criteria is that the person must be over 65 and live in Thornton Dale.”

Chris said the event was more popular each year with Christmas lunches taking place from Monday, December 8 to Wednesday, December 10.

“The Hall remains at the heart of the local community which is why once again we want to ensure older people in the village are ae looked after over the festive season,” he said.
