ACOMB man Peter Clarke has got his home Christmas ready with an impressive display of lights and decorations both inside and out.

Mr Clarke, 73, has lived in his house in Acomb almost all his life, and has been putting up the decorations every year since his neighbour gave up staging displays on her home.

“I live on my own so in the summer I do my gardening and in the winter I do this. I enjoy it.”

His favourite decoration is a giant Father Christmas, and Mr Clarke said he often sees cars slowing down to get a better look as they go past his house.

Donations can be left through Mr Clarke’s letter box, and any money raised will be given to York Hospital, he added.
