ACCOMPLISHED Selby choir the Abbey Belles joined forces with Selby District Council to sing a recycling message for Christmas.

The popular a cappella chorus performed a specially written version of the 12 Days of Christmas for shoppers and residents in Selby Market Place.

The choir’s recycling version of the 12 Days of Christmas encourages shoppers to recycle and reuse waste over the holidays.

Suggestions include making gift tags from old cards, making turkey stew and revamping old decorations.

The choir is known for singing a wide variety of music, from traditional barbershop to sixties doo-wop.

Musical director Anne Turner, said: “When the council approached us we agreed that it sounded like a fun project to do. Members of the Belles were happy to join in and take the message to shoppers in Selby. We had a huge amount of fun practising and hope everyone enjoys it as much as we have.”
