A YORK hardware store described as the “hub of the community” has also been nominated for the Shop Of The Year award.
Pextons, in Bishopthorpe Road, was put forward by Kate Buckley of Vine Street, who said: “At Pextons, the wonderful staff are incredibly helpful and are a mine of information and advice.
“Not only do they sort out all your hardware needs, but they are also very caring, looking after the needs of older customers with charm and genuine concern.
“Pextons is the hub of the South Bank community.”
The store, which sells a range of equipment useful for the home and garden, ranging from tools and ladders to nuts, bolts and fixtures, has been run for the past decade by Johnny and Frankie Hayes.
