Two local businesses have stepped forward to help ensure the success of the film, which will attract vital investment – and new jobs – to the city by showing businessmen why they should relocate here.

Fulprint, a printing firm based in Apollo Street, off Heslington Road, has printed 250 covers for the DVD, which will be sent to the bosses of firms considering relocation to York.

And Saville Audio Visual, based at Poppleton, has taken responsibility for projection and sound at the first screening of the film on Tuesday, which will be hosted by the inward investment agency, york-england.com, and will be attended by almost 60 leading figures from York’s business world and the public authorities.

The film, which has been created by Christopher David, of York filmmakers Flashframe Productions, captures the best of York life on camera.

It is just one of a series of initiatives introduced as part of The Press campaign, which aims to support and promote businesses in York and North and East Yorkshire during the global recession.

Fulprint finance director Bob Scrase, who is a non-executive voluntary director of York Business Advice Centre and a former Sheriff of York, said he was delighted to be supporting the campaign by printing the cover.

He said: “Established in 1985, Fulprint has seen off two recessions, and we’ll see off this one too!” Managing director Martin Gray said: “In these difficult and challenging times, it has been important to keep costs down and the money coming in, but it has also been a good opportunity to have a look at how we are working and see where we can improve.”

Production director Frankie Curran said Fulprint used local suppliers wherever possible. “We switched our long-distance deliveries from a national company to local suppliers last year, where we have been given a great service by both YDL and Greenlink cycle couriers.

“Offering a comprehensive range of printing services, it’s clear that Fulprint Means Business!”
