A YORK chef has been announced as one of the top curry chefs in the UK.

Mohan Miah, executive chef at the Bengal Brasserie, was awarded one of 21 Best Curry Chef awards by Curry Life Magazine, which recognises the best chefs in each region.

Mohan said: “I am absolutely delighted. We’ve always been very proud of our food at Bengal Brasserie and it’s a great honour to be named the best curry chef in my area. I always put 100 per cent into my cooking and I am glad people recognise that effort.

“I have picked up the award, but any good restaurant is about a team effort and this award will be for everyone at the Bengal Brasserie. I would like to also thank all my regular customers who nominated me for this prestigious award.”

Dobir Malik, owner of Bengal Brasserie, which has restaurants in Goodramgate and Nether Poppleton, York, Wetherby and Leeds, said: “We have won many awards but this is exclusively for the chef. It promotes the chef and encourages other chefs in the industry.”
